Back in 2008 we started as GEKOS, a summer camp program for children 6-12 years old, in a nearby church. At the end of the summer, our camp kids headed back to school and we started a daycare program for infant and up in our 2 bedroom apartment!
Through the years, we have been able to grow and have become a learning program for 2-6 year olds. We are now in Fort Collins, and are working towards growing our classrooms! In 2014, Jennifer was called to go to bible college, where she was able to learn more about God and the Bible, as well as having the opportunity to work as a preschool teacher up in Fargo, ND. After this, her passion for the children grew! We are now both working full time in ROP and are able to continue improving our programs!
My first memory of "what I wanted to be when I grew up" was in Kindergarten. When I was five, what I wanted most was to be a teacher, and that desire has never changed. I started out babysitting at age eight, and have worked in a daycare, before/after school program, kindergarten classroom, summer camps, etc. I have experience with premi through teen and everything in between, as well as experience with multiples, moderate and special needs.
I absolutely love what I do, and couldn't imagine my life anywhere else. Teaching these kids brings such joy to my heart! Seeing them grow, seeing them understand, and seeing them LOVE!
I enjoy church, being crafty, playing music and sports, and spending time with my large Italian family!
I was born and raised in Colorado and love the beauty all around it. I never expected to enjoy working with children, but now it’s become a passion of mine. I also love spending time at my church and serving the Lord. I teach the 3-6 year old class on Sunday mornings at church. I like to spend my free time with the people I love, laughing and sharing stories no matter how many times I’ve heard them! I recently spent a year and a half at a Bible college in Fargo, ND learning as much as I could about the Word of God. I want to share what I’ve learned with anyone who has questions like I did! I grew up babysitting my younger sisters that are several years younger than me. I participated in the early childhood classes and programs in school, which included teaching young kids to read. This is more than a job to me. When I can see the understanding light up a child’s face, every struggle is worth it and I am even more excited to see what they will accomplish next!
